In a show of solidarity, Geoffrey Kini, the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, has extended humanitarian support to families affected by the recent conflict in the area.

The violent clashes have left many residents struggling to meet their basic needs, prompting swift intervention from both the government and the MP. Kini’s relief donation, made through National Security, is aimed at easing the hardships faced by those displaced.

The donated items include 300 bags of rice, soap, cooking oil, buckets, 1,000 blankets, mosquito coils and nets, as well as 1,000 plastic cups and plates. Additionally, second-hand clothing and other essentials were provided to ensure affected families receive immediate assistance.

Addressing the community, Mr. Kini reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare, stressing the need for unity and resilience in these difficult times. He called on chiefs and community leaders to work together in fostering peace and supporting those in need.

The relief efforts have been met with widespread appreciation. Speaking on behalf of the Adele, Challa Akyode, and Muslim communities, Nkwanta Zongo Chief, Alhaji Kayaba Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, describing it as a source of hope for affected residents.

He also urged warring factions to lay down their arms and embrace peace, emphasizing that the prolonged conflict is hampering development and economic activities in the area. He called for collective action to restore normalcy and create an environment where businesses can thrive again.
