Electoral Commission Invites Media to Observe Ballot Printing

The Electoral Commission (EC) has invited journalists to observe the printing of Ballot for the upcoming December 7 elections, making it the first in Ghana’s history. This unprecedented step aims to enhance transparency and strengthen public trust in the electoral process. Media access has been granted at three out of the six facilities designated for ballot printing, including Inolink Printing Limited, Buck Press, and Acts Commercial.

Currently, the facilities are producing only parliamentary ballots, with the presidential ballot pending due to the recent death of Akua Donkor, the Ghana Freedom Party’s flagbearer. Her passing may impact the final list of candidates.

Dr. Benjamin Bannor-Bio, the EC’s Director of Electoral Services, explained that political party representatives are involved in every step of the ballot printing process to verify serial numbers, quantities, and constituency-specific details.

Dr. Bannor-Bio emphasized that the EC’s commitment to integrity is highlighted through this open approach, as the Commission collaborates closely with stakeholders like Buck Press, which is handling ballot for the Ashanti, Oti, Savanna, and Central regions.
