Ghanaian gospel musician, Brother Sammy, has sparked conversation with his recent claims that activities like betting, eating pork, and getting piercings are not sinful. Speaking during an entertainment discussion, Brother Sammy urged people to stop using Christianity as a tool to instill fear in others, while confidently sharing his views on these topics.
He admitted to betting regularly, seeing it as a quick path to financial success. According to Brother Sammy, many individuals pray for wealth but often overlook betting as a viable means to achieve it.
He also criticized what he calls hypocrisy among pastors who discourage betting but allow their children to participate in American lotteries. Although he has never engaged in lotto himself, Brother Sammy made it clear that he wouldn’t condemn the practice, adding that proceeds from betting could even be used as church offerings.
Also addressing societal judgments, Brother Sammy criticized the way individuals with tattoos and piercings are treated in churches.
“Even when boys with tattoos and piercing enter churches, they look at them with judgmental eyes, it’s not fair. They judge Rastafarians but allow women wear weaves and synthetic hairs. We need to be truthful to each other”
Brother Sammy reiterated that, he does not and will never, subscribe to the moral compass which binds society and restricts their free will.
