The Black Stars are set to commence their training camp on Monday in preparation for a crucial doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The first leg is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the return fixture will take place in Libya on Monday, October 14.
Head coach Otto Addo has announced a 25-man squad for these decisive matches. Notable returnees include Alexander Djiku and Ernest Numah, both of whom missed the September qualifiers due to injuries. Midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana from Atalanta also returns to the squad, having recovered from an injury.
Gideon Mensah, who recently made his return for Auxerre after being sidelined for 72 days, has also been called up. Meanwhile, FC Samartex defender Isaac Afful has earned his first-ever invitation to the national team.
After a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger in their last two outings, the Black Stars are currently third in Group F. They will be aiming for back-to-back victories against Sudan to boost their qualification hopes for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
