Bronny James made his NBA scoring debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in a 134-110 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers, led by Evan Mobley with 25 points and Donovan Mitchell adding 24, secured their fifth consecutive win, marking their best season start since 2016-17.
LeBron James, who previously played two stints with Cleveland, and his son Bronny, made history last week as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game, which took place during the Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Reflecting on Bronny’s first basket in the NBA, LeBron shared, “It’s an unbelievable moment to see him score in this arena, not far from where he grew up.”
Bronny entered the game with a little over five minutes remaining and scored his first points with a 14-foot step-back jumper over Tristan Thompson. He attempted a three-pointer in the final minute but missed, while LeBron closed the game with 26 points, six rebounds, and six turnovers.
In other NBA action, Pascal Siakam’s three-pointer with 7.3 seconds left in overtime helped the Indiana Pacers secure a 135-132 victory over the Boston Celtics in Indianapolis. Jaylen Brown missed a three-point attempt in the Celtics’ last possession, marking their first loss of the season.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 44 points, powering the New York Knicks to a 116-107 win over the Miami Heat, while the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-93. San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama, after leaving the game with a foot injury in the second quarter, returned but finished with a career-low six points.
The Detroit Pistons claimed their first win of the season, beating the Philadelphia 76ers 105-95. In a nail-biter in California, the Portland Trail Blazers edged out the LA Clippers 106-105, with Anfernee Simons contributing 25 points.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors, without Stephen Curry due to an ankle injury, won 104-89 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry’s replacement, Brandin Podziemski, came close to a triple-double, while Buddy Hield added 21 points.
In Washington, Bilal Coulibaly posted a career-high 27 points, leading the Wizards to a 133-120 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. In North Carolina, Tre Mann and Cody Martin scored a combined 52 points off the bench, helping the Charlotte Hornets edge the Toronto Raptors 138-133.
The Chicago Bulls rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat the Orlando Magic 102-99, despite Paolo Banchero’s 32 points. Lastly, the Brooklyn Nets sailed past the Memphis Grizzlies 119-106, with Dennis Schroder scoring a season-high 33 points.
