CAF CL: Samartex 1996 secures significant victory against Victoria United of Cameroon

At Douala’s Japoma Stadium, FC Samartex 1996 defeated Cameroonian champions Victoria United 1-0 on the road in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying match. With a strong header from a corner in the second half, Emmanuel Mamah scored the game’s winning goal, giving the Ghanaian team a significant advantage going into the second leg.

Kofi Baah started in goal and Ebenezer Acquah as captain for head coach Nurudeen Amadu’s potent starting eleven. Despite dominating the first few minutes, Victoria United was unable to seriously threaten Samartex’s defence.

Samartex expanded their possession and control as the game went on, but they were unable to take advantage of their early opportunities. Samartex increased their offensive pressure in the second half, which set up Mamah’s game-winning goal.

The last few minutes saw fierce play from both teams, but Samartex prevailed. In the second leg, which takes place at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25, the Ghanaian Champions will try to finish the job.
