Nearly three years after captivating audiences in Ghana and beyond with his hit single “Sugarcane,” Camidoh says he’s not feeling any pressure to produce a follow-up hit of the same magnitude.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on October 24, 2024, the artist, born Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie, expressed confidence in his ability to consistently create quality music without imposing pressure on himself. His primary focus, he shared, is to produce authentic songs that genuinely connect with his audience rather than trying to replicate the success of past hits.
“I’ve never really felt pressured to make another song like ‘Sugarcane,'” Camidoh stated. “I believe I’ve been gifted with remarkable talent, so there’s no need to measure my new work against previous ones. I know my music will receive the attention it deserves because each song is unique and beautiful in its own way. If I were struggling to make music, maybe I’d feel that pressure. But as it is, I feel blessed and have no need to force another ‘Sugarcane’.”
Camidoh also spoke about the challenges artists face in the music industry, noting the importance of recognizing the value artists bring. He emphasized the need for better communication around the significance of music and artistry, arguing that when people appreciate an artist’s worth, they’re more likely to offer respect and support.
“Our industry needs to highlight the importance of valuing artists and their work,” he explained. “When people understand the worth of a song, or the skill and creativity involved in making music, they’ll celebrate it more.”
Currently, Camidoh is promoting a remix of his track “NLF (Nothing Lasts Forever),” featuring Coded from 4×4. He is also working on new singles and collaborative projects, underscoring his belief in the power of collaboration as a way to broaden perspectives and strengthen the industry. “Collaboration lets us share ideas, and that pushes growth for everyone,” he shared. “I’m excited about a joint single with Qwamina MP, called ‘Before You Go,’ and I’ve also featured on S3fa’s latest track ‘All Over.’”
He encouraged fans to keep an eye out for his upcoming releases, hinting at more collaborations soon. “I’d love for all my fans to support these new songs as they come out,” he added.
