Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, the flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has pledged to fully implement Ghana’s Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) policy if elected in the 2024 general elections. She promised that under her leadership, every child, regardless of financial background, would have access to quality education.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Madam Frimponmaa highlighted her commitment to ensuring that all children not only enroll in school but also have the opportunity to attain at least an associate degree, even if their parents face financial difficulties. She stated that education is key to national development and that no child would be left behind.
“I have personally spent years helping others pay school fees. The CPP believes this issue should have been resolved long ago. If I become president, FCUBE will be fully implemented, just like our plans for decentralization. No child will be left out of school,” she affirmed.
She further stressed that the policy would apply to all children, including those from immigrant backgrounds, saying, “Whether your parents can afford it or not, education will be accessible to every young person. We believe in the potential of our youth, and when you receive the best education, you’ll come back and contribute to the progress of the nation.”
Frimponmaa is optimistic that this approach will empower future generations and drive Ghana’s development forward.
