Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has pledged to establish a tomato processing factory at Akomadan in the Offinso North constituency, Ashanti Region, if he is elected President. This initiative is part of his broader plan to promote industrialization and generate jobs for Ghana’s youth.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ durbar in Akomadan on Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia highlighted that his government would focus on modernizing agriculture. Key to this effort would be the establishment of District Agriculture Mechanisation Centres in agricultural areas to provide essential farming equipment like tractors, harvesters, and ploughing machines, aimed at helping farmers increase their production capacity.
In addressing sustainable mining practices, Dr. Bawumia shared plans to strengthen the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) by equipping it to conduct thorough geological surveys across the country. These efforts would identify mineral-rich areas to discourage speculative mining, which has contributed to environmental degradation and water pollution.
On infrastructure, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to extend the nation’s railway network to enhance the transport of minerals, goods, and services. His administration would prioritize expanding the Tema rail line to Kumasi and the Northern Region, and extend railway services from Awaso in the Western Region to Kumasi, easing the movement of goods across the country.
Dr. Bawumia called on Ghanaians to support his bid for the presidency and vote for all NPP parliamentary candidates, asserting that this mandate would allow the NPP to continue its transformative agenda for Ghana’s growth and prosperity.
