We have corrected all discrepancies in the provisional voters register – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that all identified discrepancies in the 2024 provisional voters register have been fully resolved. This update was shared by EC Chairperson Jean Mensa during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024.

Mensa highlighted the significant strides made by the Commission in addressing issues that arose during the initial exhibition of the register at more than 40,000 centres nationwide. “We have applied well-established legal and administrative processes to clean the register, and we can now confidently say that the majority of the discrepancies have been addressed,” she explained.

In response to allegations that the discrepancies were an attempt to disenfranchise voters in specific regions, the EC firmly denied such claims. “It is important to stress that the discrepancies found in the provisional voters register affected regions across the country. The suggestion that these discrepancies were part of a scheme to disenfranchise voters in certain areas is false,” Mensa clarified.

She further affirmed that the Commission remains committed to ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process, assuring the public that the provisional voters register has been thoroughly cleaned and all identified issues have been corrected.
