The Electoral Commission’s Deputy Chairman for Operations, Samuel Tettey, has announced a shift in the printing arrangements for ballot papers to be used in the Oti and Western North Regions for the upcoming December 7 elections.
In a letter dated October 25 and seen by 3news, Mr. Tettey stated that Yarsarko Printing Press Ltd, initially designated to produce the Presidential and Parliamentary ballots for these regions, has been replaced. According to the notice, Buck Press Ltd will now handle ballot printing for the Oti Region, while Acts Commercials Ltd will print ballots for the Western North Region.
Although the letter did not specify reasons for the change, the decision has stirred questions among some political parties who view the printing of ballot papers as a sensitive and security-intensive phase of the electoral process. They believe transparency around this step is essential to prevent potential allegations of misconduct. The removal of Yarsarko Printing Press from the task could prompt speculation, and a clear explanation might have helped to mitigate concerns.
Nevertheless, the announcement reflects the Electoral Commission’s efforts to maintain transparency in the lead-up to the December elections, underscoring its commitment to open and fair processes.
