The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially presented the final voters’ register for the 2024 election to political parties, marking a key step in preparations for the December 7 polls.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa handed over the register during a meeting with party representatives on Wednesday, November 6. She highlighted that the presentation fulfilled a commitment made at the last Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, where a preliminary soft copy of the register had been provided.
Mensa noted that after the template was distributed, no political party raised any concerns or submitted feedback.
“In the October 15 IPAC meeting, we assured that this presentation would occur by the end of the first week of November. With God’s grace, we’ve accomplished this two days ahead of our deadline,” she stated.
She reported that, following the exhibition of the revised Provisional Voters Register (PVR), the commission had addressed 158 issues brought forth by voters nationwide.
Expressing confidence in the register’s reliability, Mensa emphasized its importance in ensuring a fair and transparent election.
“I am pleased to announce that all issues have been resolved, and as of now, there are no outstanding concerns with the final voters’ register. We now have a robust, certified voters’ register ready to support a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and successful election on December 7, 2024,” she concluded.
