Crystal Palace has successfully signed striker Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal on a five-year deal.
The 25-year-old forward expressed his excitement in an interview with the club’s website, saying, “It’s amazing to sign for Crystal Palace – I’m excited to get going. Every time I come back to South London, it always puts a smile on my face, so it’s good to be back home.”
Former Chelsea kid, England international striker Eddie Nketiah has signed for Crystal Palace from Arsenal this year. Ketia scored a total of 39 goals in 39 matches at Arsenal for the U-18 side and instantly transferred to the first team where he scored two goals in his second match.
Nketiah has been successively with Arsenal whereby he achieved the FA Cup in the 2019/20 season. He also created records in October 2020 by becoming the all-time leading goalscorer for England in Under-21 level scoring 16 goals in 17 appearances. His great form has seen him promoted to the senior’s team in England in an international friendly match against Australia in October last year.
Their departure has hit Arsenal hard especially in the final third of the field because Nketiah has scored 38 goals in 168 appearances for the team with an average of nearly a goal every 180 minutes. He also claimed his maiden Premier League hat-trick last season against Sheffield United.
Nketiah is the fifth addition to the Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window after Chadi Riad, Daichi Kamada, Ismaïla Sarr and Maxence Lacroix. Shaban will don the No. 9 jersey for the Eagles. In particular, one can mention that, despite the participation in the national team of England, Nketiah can still play for Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars.
