Togbe Kpangbatriku IV, Fiaga of the Dodome Traditional Area in the Volta Region’s Ho West District, has called on the people in his jurisdiction to foster unity and work diligently towards the development of Dodome. Speaking at the 2024 Dodome Agadzi Festival, he emphasized the significance of community service, urging everyone to play a role in building the area’s future.
A central part of his vision, he shared, is improving educational opportunities in Dodome. “None of the communities here has a secondary institution, so I am eager to establish a Technical/Vocational Institute,” he said. Togbe Kpangbatriku IV noted that the Dodome Education Endowment Fund (DODEEF) has been set up to support this vision, and he urged the board to create policies to help bring a technical and vocational school to Dodome, ensuring young people gain practical skills for employment.
In addition to education, Togbe Kpangbatriku IV highlighted the importance of discipline. He expressed concern over rising indiscipline, which he noted threatens to tarnish Dodome’s reputation for integrity. “Progress is built on discipline,” he said, urging Youth Chiefs (“Sorhefiawo”) and other traditional leaders to address indiscipline and ensure fair treatment in community matters to restore respect for authority.
Togbe Kpangbatriku IV also appealed to the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ho West, calling for the completion of the road connecting Dzolo-Gbogame and Kpedze through Dodome, which he said is a high priority for the community.
With elections approaching, he urged politicians to support community development efforts and discouraged divisive politics.
The Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Bedzrah, also spoke at the festival, commending Dodome’s contributions to the constituency. He expressed disappointment that Volta Regional Minister Dr. Yao Archibald Letsa was absent from the event and called on residents to vote for John Dramani Mahama and retain him (Bedzrah) in the upcoming elections to advance Dodome’s progress.
The 2024 Dodome Agadzi Festival was celebrated under the theme, “Unity, Commitment, and Development.”
