The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has urged people who live near the border with Aflao to thwart any attempts by security forces to seize their Ghana Cards. This is in response to rumours that citizens’ Ghana Cards are being confiscated by Ghana Immigration Service border patrol agents.
At a speech in Aflao, the flagbearer of the NDC urged the locals to resist these supposed activities and to not let themselves to be frightened by them. He declared that neither immigration nor the police had the authority to retrieve your Ghana card.
He continued saying “It is the National Identification Authority that has the right to withdraw your card. Once it has been issued, if somebody thinks you are not a citizen, he has to go to the National Identification Authority and get a certificate of withdrawal of your card before he can come and take your card from you”.
