IEA to host first 2024 Presidential debate on October 22

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has announced the schedule for its presidential debates ahead of the upcoming general elections. The first debate is slated for October 22, 2024, with the second scheduled for November 19, 2024.

Additionally, the Vice Presidential Debate will be held on November 5, 2024.

In a statement, the IEA outlined its plans to host two presidential debates, one vice-presidential debate, and five Evening Encounters in the run-up to the December 7 election, providing candidates with a platform to discuss their policies and visions for the country.

The IEA’s Evening Encounters are set to begin on Wednesday, September 18, with the final session planned for Tuesday, October 15.

However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that their flagbearer will not take part in the debates. The party has expressed concerns regarding the credibility of the organizers, prompting their decision to decline participation.
