Ghanaian socialite and actress Efia Odo, born Andrea Owusu, has sparked discussion with her bold views on submission in relationships. On her podcast “Rants, Bants and Confessions,” she argues that submission from women shouldn’t be automatic; it should be earned by men who meet certain standards.
Efia Odo shared her criteria for a man worthy of submission, highlighting the importance of responsibility and personal growth. “Before I can submit to a man, he needs to show responsibility. He should be a provider, someone who respects himself, and someone I can learn from,” she stated. She believes that when a man truly leads, women will naturally want to submit. “Why wouldn’t a woman submit if the man is doing what he’s supposed to do?” she asked.
Efia also challenged what she sees as unreasonable expectations in relationships, questioning men who expect submission without proving their own worth. “If a guy isn’t doing anything, why would you expect a woman to submit? It doesn’t make sense,” she said.
