Rising global crude oil prices and the depreciation of the cedi have been cited as the primary factors behind the hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abass Imoro, the Industrial Relations Officer for GPRTU, emphasized the union\u2019s preference for engaging directly with the Transport Ministry on such matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf the President appoints and approves a Transport Minister, we will work with the ministry accordingly. We are patiently waiting for that process to be completed so we can formally write to the minister and initiate discussions,\u201d Mr. Imoro stated in an interview with Citi News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the delay in pursuing fare adjustments, Mr. Imoro explained, \u201cThe threshold for fare changes has been exceeded by far, but we are not in a rush to take any action. We are waiting patiently and respecting the process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond fare adjustments, the GPRTU plans to engage key stakeholders to advocate for the removal of certain taxes on fuel.
