The Accra High Court has postponed the hearing of an injunction application filed by disqualified presidential hopeful Samuel Apea-Danquah, rescheduling it for Thursday. Mr. Apea-Danquah, who was recently disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC), is challenging the decision and has requested a judicial review to reverse it.
In advance of the main case, Mr. Apea-Danquah filed a motion seeking to halt all EC activities related to the upcoming presidential election until his case is resolved. During Monday’s session, however, his legal team requested an adjournment to allow additional time to respond to an opposition motion filed by the EC.
While the court initially proposed resuming on Tuesday, Mr. Apea-Danquah’s lawyers successfully secured a Thursday hearing date. Following the session, Mr. Apea-Danquah told Citi FM that his legal team has also submitted a formal request for the EC to provide documentation on the criteria and decision-making process that led to his disqualification.
