Joana Gyan Cudjoe, wife of musician Keche Andrew, has been re-elected as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Amenfi Central constituency. Her election, through acclamation, took place on Sunday after her sole competitor, the sitting MP Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, withdrew from the race following Saturday’s vetting.
A total of 1,430 delegates attended the acclamation. This comes after the NDC annulled the previous election held on May 13, where Cudjoe had initially won. However, she was barred from holding herself as the candidate due to allegations of forging her voter ID and party card, which led to litigation at the Sekondi High Court.
Following a Functional Executive Committee meeting on September 3, 2024, the party decided on a rerun. Cudjoe expressed her gratitude, viewing this second chance as an opportunity to work closely with her constituents to strengthen Amenfi Central.
