Asante Kotoko has unveiled Kwasi Appiah as its new Head of Sporting Affairs, a pivotal move in the club’s ongoing restructuring.
Appiah, who is also the head coach of the Sudan national team, previously served as the Technical Director of the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC). His new role follows the appointment of club legend Malik Jabir as the team’s Technical Director.
Under the updated structure, head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum will now focus solely on team management, with both Ogum and Jabir reporting directly to Appiah.
Announcing the reshuffle on November 28, 2024, the club shared a tweet:

Appiah’s appointment comes shortly after his impressive feat of guiding Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Despite significant challenges—including a civil war and having to play home games abroad—Appiah led Sudan to a stunning victory over Ghana, securing their AFCON spot.
A former Kotoko player and winner of the 1982 AFCON with Ghana, Appiah is also set to resume his position on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council. His suspension, imposed after the Ghana-Sudan clash during the 2024 international break, has now been lifted.
Kotoko recently ended a challenging four-game winless streak with a hard-fought victory over Aduana Stars. The Porcupine Warriors now turn their attention to the MTN FA Cup, where they face Future Stars in the Round of 64 on Sunday, December 1, at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium (15:00 GMT).
Following the cup fixture, Kotoko will prepare for a highly anticipated Matchday 13 showdown against rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League. The clash will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium, adding further excitement to an already eventful period for the club.
Appiah’s appointment signals a renewed sense of direction for Asante Kotoko as they aim to reclaim domestic and continental glory.
