Leeroy Owusu named in Danish 1. Division team of the week

Leeroy Owusu, a Ghanaian defender born in the Netherlands, was named to Sofascore’s first-ever Team of the Week for his outstanding play in the Danish 1 Division. In the Danish 1. Division, Leeroy Owusu scored his first goal of the year to help Odense Boldklub defeat B 93 3-1. At the Østerbro Stadion, the 28-year-old played the entire match and made a big contribution to his team’s triumph. After ten minutes, Jakob Bonde headed home a corner kick from Alasana Manneh to open the score. Shortly after, Max Fenger headed home a goal after Nicholas Mickelson’s left-wing cross, doubling the lead.

After only three minutes, Mickelson surged down the left once more and passed to Owusu, who forcefully smashed the ball into the net to make it 3-0 at the half. The Ghanaian winger for B 93, Osman Addo, who was born in Denmark, tried to spur his team on in the second half, but Viljar Myhra stopped his shot. By taking advantage of the rebound, Sebastian Clemmensen cut the lead to 3-1. Still, Odense managed to hold on and win. Thus far this season in the Danish 1. Division, Owusu has participated in five games and scored one goal.
