Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has explained why he avoids endorsing political parties, unlike some of his fellow celebrities.
In an interview on Cape Coast’s Property FM, the actor and entrepreneur stated that he has no interest in taking money from politicians to publicly support them, emphasizing his contentment with what he has.
“It’s not every money I need to take. The little that God has blessed me with is enough for me,” he said. “Besides, in Ghana, we don’t fully understand politics.”
LilWin highlighted the stark difference between political endorsements in Ghana and other countries, using the U.S. as an example. “In America, you see celebrities endorsing people like Trump or Harris without any backlash. But here in Ghana, it becomes a big issue when a public figure associates with a political party,” he remarked.
He noted that such affiliations often lead to unnecessary hatred or dislike from the public. “As a celebrity in Ghana, endorsing the NDC or NPP can create problems, even though it shouldn’t be that way,” he added.
Apart from his acting career, LilWin manages a school and prefers to remain neutral in politics to avoid potential complications. His decision reflects a broader concern about the politicization of public figures in Ghana and its impact on their careers and ventures.
