The young player of Barcelona, Marc Bernal aged 17 years, received a huge blow in the game against Rayo Vallecano which make him to leave the pitch in the second half of the game. Speculations of a severe injury were fueled further when he was seen leaving with crutches.
Following medical tests today, Barcelona confirmed the worst: Specifically, Bernal has a history of the complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the patient’s left knee as well as a concurrent injury to the lateral meniscus. The club made a statement to the effect that the latest young talent from the famous La Masia academy would be operated on in the coming week.
Barcelona issued a statement which said,
“Tests carried out on Wednesday have shown that the player Marc Bernal has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus,”
“In the coming days he will undergo a surgical procedure and when completed an update will be provided.”
More specifically, the second meniscus injury suggests that Bernal may take a much longer time to come back onto the pitch, with the 2024/25 season seemingly ruled out for the young and talented midfielder.
Making his first team debut earlier this month against Valencia, Bernal immediately made his way into Flick’s starting lineup. It was a big loss having him injured, and the time that will be taken to recover is approximately ten months to a year. The Barcelona fans and football lovers in general are wishing the youngster a quick and effective recovery.
