Former Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien has proudly announced his completion of the UEFA Certificate in Football Management. Sharing the milestone on social media this past Friday, Essien added this new qualification to his UEFA License A coaching certificate, which he earned in 2023. With a remarkable playing career behind him, Essien is now set on excelling in football management.
“Finally done with my UEFA certificate in football management journey. Thanks all for the help. I keep learning about the beautiful game,” he posted on X.
The UEFA Certificate in Football Management (CFM) is tailored for individuals involved in the operational, administrative, and management aspects of football. This program covers strategic management, marketing, communication, finance, event management, and governance, providing essential skills for managing football clubs, federations, and leagues. Unlike coaching qualifications, the CFM prepares participants for the complexities of football administration rather than player coaching.
Essien’s commitment to the game is evident in his pursuit of knowledge beyond the field, aiming to make well-informed, strategic contributions to football organizations. Currently, he serves as an individual talent coach at Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjaelland, where he applies his extensive experience to mentor young players.
The former Chelsea, AC Milan, and Real Madrid star enjoyed a glittering career, winning major honors including the Champions League and the Premier League, and now looks forward to making an impact off the pitch as well.
