Parliament is set to reconvene today, November 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following a directive from Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The session will take place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, where lawmakers will resume discussions that have been on hold for several weeks.
Among the key issues on the agenda is the ongoing deadlock over the Speaker’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant, a decision that has sparked tension within the House.
The standoff intensified when Speaker Bagbin adjourned the previous session after members of the Minority caucus occupied the Majority side of the chamber, leveraging their numerical strength in protest of the ruling.
In a media briefing on Wednesday, Speaker Bagbin addressed the impasse, noting the public’s growing concern and underscoring the importance of today’s session in resolving these critical issues.
