The Baba Yara Stadium served as the site of Ghana’s Black Stars’ inaugural training session prior to their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matchup against Angola. With 22 players practicing on the pitch prior to kickoff, it was nearly a sellout crowd for the four-time AFCON champions. According to 3Sports, the only players missing the practice were Jordan Ayew and Elisha Owusu.
The meeting was held in the evening after the team arrived in Kumasi earlier on Tuesday. After their first training session, which was held in Accra with just ten players, they had this second one. The focus of Tuesday’s training session, according to Akoma Sports reporter Richard Acheampong, was set pieces as Otto Addo attempts to make the most of dead ball circumstances.
Enthusiastic spectators who watched the stars train before the crucial match welcomed the Black Stars to the stadium. Wednesday afternoon is anticipated to see Angola train, and then on Thursday the Black Stars are likely to perform their final practice before playing their opponents.
Following their victories against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in June during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana will look to defeat the Palancas Negras on Thursday before heading to Morocco to play Niger in the following match. For the 25th time, they will be looking to start the qualification campaign strong in order to guarantee a spot in the continental showcase.
