Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has restated the party’s promise to creating a Women’s Development Bank should it win an election. During the NDC’s manifesto introduction on Saturday, August 24, in Winneba, Central Region, she clarified that the bank would tackle the obstacles faced by female entrepreneurs when trying to obtain loans from banks.
An NDC government, according to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, would lower financial barriers, boost the expansion of female-owned enterprises, and provide job possibilities. “The Women’s Development Bank will be established to empower female entrepreneurs and small business owners by providing low-interest loans, financial education and sustainable support.
“This initiative will create job opportunities and bring down the financial barriers that many women face when starting and sustaining businesses,” Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang said. She clarified that the program would support female entrepreneurs’ enterprises and lessen the discrimination women frequently encounter when applying for loans. “Additionally, the bank will provide women-led businesses with advisory services and low-interest loans, further supporting their growth and success.”
