The National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has declared that the Amenfi Central parliamentary primaries in the Western Region have been cancelled. The decision was taken at a meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in response to a lawsuit about the election that was filed at the High Court in Sekondi.
The NDC highlighted that the plaintiffs’ complaint aimed to void the results of the parliamentary primary and demanded a rerun in a statement signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey. Additionally, the NDC announced that it is now accepting new nominations for the Amenfi Central Constituency primaries.
The party schedule states that nominations will open on Friday, September 6, and nominations can be filed starting on Saturday, September 7. On the same day, candidates will be vetted; the election is set for Sunday, September 8.
