Manchester United has appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, set to take over on November 11. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager departs his role at Sporting Lisbon to join the Red Devils, signing a contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2027.
Amorim’s arrival follows Erik ten Hag’s recent departure, with former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy stepping in as interim manager. Van Nistelrooy will guide the team through the next three matches, ensuring a smooth transition before Amorim officially begins his tenure.
In a statement on Friday, the club described Amorim as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.” His appointment makes him the sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, as United aims to establish long-term stability in their coaching ranks.
