Some sex styles can kill you prematurely – Doctor Gyimah warns
Dr. Kwasi Baffour Gyimah, the Medical Superintendent of Mampong Hospital, is urging Ghanaians to adopt healthier sexual practices. In a recent discussion on the Asetena Pa series with Eunice Akoto Attakora-Manu, he highlighted the risks of “marathon sex” and certain sexual positions that could be detrimental to health.
Dr. Gyimah noted that while sex can be physically engaging, it typically lasts no longer than 30 minutes and therefore doesn’t provide the same benefits as a rigorous workout. He emphasized the importance of caution, especially for individuals with underlying health conditions like hypertension. “Some sexual positions can strain the body, particularly for those with high blood pressure,” he cautioned, advising men on medication to be particularly mindful.
He also addressed the pressure some men may feel to meet high performance expectations, warning that overexertion could lead to serious health risks, including life-threatening consequences. Dr. Gyimah’s message is clear: prioritizing health and safety in intimate relationships is essential.
