Liverpool stars Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are set to return to the club earlier than anticipated, after being released from international duties ahead of schedule.
Van Dijk, captain of the Netherlands, was shown a red card during their 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw against Hungary on Friday. His suspension rules him out of the upcoming match against Germany on Monday, allowing him to return to Merseyside sooner than expected.
Meanwhile, Salah, who captains Egypt, scored in their 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier victory against Mauritania in Cairo. Although he was initially expected to play in the second leg of the qualifier on Tuesday, the Egyptian Football Association has also released him early.
Their early return is a major boost for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, as the club prepares to face Chelsea in a crucial Premier League clash on Sunday, October 20 (16:30 BST).
Liverpool currently sits at the top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City, making the availability of Van Dijk and Salah a key advantage in their push to maintain their lead.
