Dusan Vlahovic’s second-half penalty helped Juventus secure a 1-1 draw against a resilient Lille in their Champions League clash.
Canada’s Jonathan David opened the scoring for the hosts in the 27th minute with a well-placed chip over Juventus goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio. However, Juventus found an opportunity to level just before the hour when Francisco Conceicao was fouled in the box by Lille’s Benjamin Andre. Vlahovic calmly converted from the spot, sending Lille’s keeper Lucas Chevalier the wrong way to equalize.
Juventus looked dominant in the final half-hour but couldn’t break Lille’s defense to find a winning goal. Before their equalizer, Chevalier made an impressive double save, denying Conceicao and then Khephren Thuram in quick succession. Juventus also saw two goals from Teun Koopmeiners disallowed for offside in the first half.
The draw brings Juventus to 10th in the league phase table, two spots above Lille, with both teams tied on seven points. Lille, however, extended their unbeaten European streak to three games, following victories over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid after their initial loss to Sporting, now adding a hard-fought draw against two-time European champions Juventus to their record.
