The leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that 80% of the pledges made by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration were fulfilled in their 2020 platform. Dr. Bawumia emphasised the government’s commitment to keeping its pledges during a media appearance on Sunday, August 25.
He compared this accomplishment to the track record of National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader John Dramani Mahama, claiming that Mahama had only kept 28% of the promises made in his 2012 platform. Referencing Mahama’s alleged inability to fulfil 203 of 280 pledges stated in his 2012 platform, Dr. Bawumia underlined the NPP government’s superior record.
He said, “I think that we have a very pretty record in terms of honouring our promises. We’ve done some work to look at our 2016 manifesto, and what proportion of those manifestos we’ve honoured, and 83 percent have been honoured. And when you look at the 2020 manifesto, 2020, even in the midst of all these crises, we are fulfilling or we’ve fulfilled 80 percent of our 2020 promises in our manifesto.”
