After a sad accident at the Gomoa Mprumamu Junction on the Winneba-Apam Highway in the Central Region, three people perished there and ten more were injured. The tragic event happened in the Central Region’s Gomoa West District at Gomoa Mprumamu. Police sources claim that after one of the tires burst, the car took fire.
A Toyota Hiace passenger bus with registration number CR: 805-24, which was transporting 15 people from Accra to Cape Coast, was involved in the collision. After one of the bus’s tires burst, it swerved off the road and fell into the undergrowth.
Two males, one of whom was the driver’s companion, and a lady who was the mother of the children on board are among the deceased, according to Apam District Fire Service Commander DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, who verified the occurrence. The tourists were coming to Cape Coast to see the ongoing Fetu Festival, according to DO2 Anthony Rhule.
DO2 Anthony Rhule also advised drivers to reduce their speed on the highway and Utilise road signage to lessen collisions along the route. While some of the injured were carried to both the Winneba Trauma and Winneba Municipal hospitals for treatment, the deceased have been placed in the mortuary of the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
