Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam NDC accuses EC of padding register with over 3,000 voters

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), accuses the Electoral Commission (EC) of working with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to tamper with the voter registration in the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency in the Central Region. Over 3,000 names had allegedly been fraudulently added to the voter registration, according to Galahad Alex Andoh, the NDC’s communications officer, during a news conference in Ajumako. He insisted on receiving an explanation from the EC on how these names ended up on the registry.

He added that the NDC would take the required steps to stop any electoral fraud and that the party would oppose any attempts by the EC to rig the next elections. Concerns were also expressed by the NDC regarding differences between the voter registration used for the voter exhibition exercise and the one given to their leadership in Accra. Galahad Andoh claims that these differences seem to be a part of a bigger plan by the EC to rig the results in the NPP’s benefit.

Professor Jonathan Annan, the NDC’s Constituency Chairman in Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, backed Andoh’s position and reaffirmed the party’s dedication to protecting the accuracy of the voter registration. He urged every NDC executive and parliamentary candidate in the area to carefully review their individual registrations and advised against putting too much faith in the current EC. Regarding this accusation, the Electoral Commission has not yet responded.
