Acting Chief Director of Ministry of Interior appreciate Business Regulatory Reforms initiative

Mrs. Doreen Annan who is an Acting Chief Director of Ministry of Interior has used this opportunity to appreciate the leadership and management of Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) for including Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Business Regulatory Reforms. In the course of the Public-Private Dialogue and Knowledge Sharing on Development Permit Administration, Mrs. Annan underscored the technical assistance offered to the GNFS which has enhance and the GNFS website and developed the Fire Safety Permit and Certification Management System (FSP& CMS).

Specifically, this new functioning paradigm shall consider the full automation and decentralization of the current workflows with regards to fire opinion reports, final approvals and certifications. So far, 184 officers of GNFS across the country have been trained on the use of the system. Mrs. Annan asserted the need to incorporate use of technology as a tool to in compliance with globally accepted standards in serving clients. She also pointed that more information as well as knowledge about the change in the procedures of application for the fire certificate must be provided to the public.

The MOTI event was held at the Office of the Head of Local Governments of Service with the supporting input of bodies like Ministry of Local Governments, Decentralizations & Rural Development, Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources and the Ghana Institute of Architects. The BRRI and government’s ambition of making Ghana the most business-friendly economy in Africa has received a boost from the Ministry of the Interior as they fully endorse the initiative recognizing its importance in achieving the nation’s socio-economic growth.
