EC Concludes Probe Into NDC Vote Transfer Allegations, Dismisses Claims

The Electoral Commission (EC) says it has conducted its own inquiry into the allegations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of unlawful vote transfers and found no evidence to support the NDC’s assertions. A forensic audit of the voter registry was something that the NDC had long demanded. Dr Tanko Rashid-Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, said the party thinks there has been tampering with the voter registration, resulting in errors and inflation.

Concerns about the disappearance of the Biometric Voter Register (BVR) and Biometric Verification Devices (BVD) were also voiced by him. The Electoral Commission (EC), according to Director of Electoral Services Benjamin Bano-Bio, ordered its IT division to look into the NDC’s allegations and discovered that they were unfounded. According to him, there were not 15,000 unauthorised vote transfers, as was claimed in the NDC’s news conference.

According to Mr. Bano-Bio, the error arose in Pusiga, and the EC was able to track down the source of the issue, figure out how it happened, and undo all 38 transactions that were found because of the system’s inherent accountability. The National Democratic Party (NDP) intends to stage protests at these locations, however the Electoral Commission (EC) announced that it will open its offices across the nation on September 17. The NDC is expected by the commission to guarantee that its members maintain calm throughout the demonstration, according to Benjamin Bano-Bio, Director of Electoral Services at the EC.
