Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged political parties to foster trust in the Electoral Commission (EC) as the December 7 elections draw near. While he emphasized the importance of vigilance for those contesting the elections, he also recognized the EC’s consistent performance in fulfilling its duties.
His remarks come as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) plans a nationwide strike demanding a forensic audit of the voter register. Speaking at a dinner with members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) at Manhyia Palace, Otumfuo acknowledged the EC’s historical effectiveness and expressed confidence in Ghana’s democratic process as a means for effecting political change.
