A 35-year-old mother, Mena Efua, from Nkotompo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, has been accused of selling her two-week-old baby for GHC300.
The shocking revelation was made by her sister, Maame Esi, who assisted in the home delivery of the Baby. Esi confirmed the story during an interview. She explained that after noticing the sudden disappearance of the Baby, she questioned her sister, who confessed to giving the Baby to an unknown individual in exchange for the money.
Initially, Mena claimed that she handed the baby to a nurse who promised to find a buyer, but she has refused to reveal the nurse’s identity. Mena later claimed the baby had been taken to Accra but has provided no further information on the child’s whereabouts.
The case was reported to the Sekondi Police and later transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), where investigations are currently underway to locate the Baby.
