Burkina Faso’s power utility company, SONABEL, has announced that on Monday, August 19, 2024, water would start to pour from the Bagre Dam.bThe White Volta Basin Secretariat of the Water Resources Commission signed and copied a statement to the Ghana News Agency stating that the latest information from SONABEL shows that the dam’s water level is at 232.8 meters and continues to rise.
The announcement also stated that the White Volta River in Ghana is predicted to breach its banks and occupy its typical flood basins as a result of the spill.
The message recommended citizens to take preventative action to avoid being negatively impacted by the spill, especially those who live and work along the White Volta River’s banks.
