Ante Budimir scored twice as Osasuna handed Barcelona their first La Liga defeat of the season in a shocking 4-2 upset. The Croatian striker opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading in Bryan Zaragoza’s precise cross from close range. Zaragoza then doubled Osasuna’s lead, calmly finishing past Barca’s goalkeeper, Iñaki Peña, after breaking through on goal.
Barcelona attempted a comeback after the break, with Pau Victor pulling one back. His shot was mishandled by Osasuna’s goalkeeper, Sergio Herrera, who fumbled it into his own net, making it 2-1. However, Budimir restored the two-goal cushion, converting a penalty he won after being fouled by Sergi Dominguez inside the box.
Osasuna sealed the victory when Abel Bretones fired a powerful shot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner, making it 4-1 with just five minutes remaining. Lamine Yamal managed to score a stunning consolation goal for Barcelona, curling a shot into the top corner, but it came too late to influence the outcome.
Barcelona’s loss ended their perfect start to the season, having won their first seven matches. They missed the chance to equal their best-ever start in La Liga, and could see Real Madrid close the gap to just one point if they win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Barcelona now shifts focus to the Champions League, where they will host Young Boys on Tuesday, looking to recover from their opening defeat to Monaco.
