The Black Stars of Ghana officially kicked off their preparations today for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sudan. Coach Otto Addo recently announced a 25-man squad for this crucial doubleheader against the Sudanese side, with players expected to convene at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
As of Sunday night, four players—Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Jojo Wollacott—have already reported to camp. They will soon be joined by Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare and FC Samartex defender Isaac Afful, who are expected to arrive this morning.
The team’s first training session will be held today at 16:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, with fans invited to attend. However, the sessions scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday will be held behind closed doors to allow the squad to focus on their tactics.
Coach Otto Addo and his team are keen to secure maximum points from these encounters, following a shaky start to their qualification campaign, with a draw against Niger and a loss to Angola in their opening matches.
The first leg against Sudan will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with the return leg set for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. The Black Stars are aiming to reignite their qualification hopes with victories in these crucial games.
