The Ghanaian Cabinet has given its approval for the introduction of the bright and Talented Education (GATE) initiative, which aims to give bright and talented kids a better and faster education.
Students with extraordinary abilities, talents, and potential will be served by the GATE program, which will make particular arrangements to meet their individual educational needs.
Initially, Junior High (JHS) and Senior High (SHS) newly founded schools will be called GATE schools and will exclusively accept GATE students.
Following the initial phase, eligible GATE students will be integrated into GATE programs within their current schools, ensuring they receive the same enriched educational experiences as those in GATE-designated institutions.
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) will be responsible for developing the curriculum, instructional methods, and assessment criteria for the GATE program. They will also establish guidelines for selecting students, create opportunities to include underrepresented groups, and set standards for the training and selection of GATE teachers.
