The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has selected a new presidential candidate for the upcoming December 7 elections, following the recent passing of its founder and former candidate, Akua Donkor, on October 29.
In a statement, party officials announced that the new candidate will be introduced to the public in the coming days, underscoring the GFP’s dedication to participating in the election and advancing Akua Donkor’s vision for Ghana despite the profound loss of their leader.
During a news conference held in the Ashanti Region on November 1, GFP leaders addressed party members and supporters, emphasizing their unity and resolve to carry forward Akua Donkor’s legacy. Patrick Tetteh, the party’s parliamentary candidate for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, confirmed that the GFP executive council has reached a consensus on both the presidential candidate and their running mate, who were selected to uphold the values of the GFP and serve the people of Ghana.
Tetteh highlighted the significance of this decision, stressing that it reflects the leadership’s shared commitment to honoring Akua Donkor’s contributions and continuing the party’s mission in her memory.
