NPP VP Candidate Pledges to Rename UPSA After Founder

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised that the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) will soon be renamed in honor of its founder, Nana Opoku Ampomah. This commitment was made during his visit to the Chief of Amoafo as part of his tour in the Bekwai Constituency, Ashanti Region.

On August 28, 2023, Nana Opoku Ampomah celebrated his 95th birthday, reflecting on a promise made five years ago by President Nana Akufo-Addo during UPSA’s Fourth Special Congregation. Despite receiving an honorary doctorate for his contributions to education, the renaming remains unfulfilled.

Prempeh also discussed plans for further development in Amansie East, emphasizing the need to divide the district for improved infrastructure, power stability, and healthcare advancements, along with initiatives for job creation and economic growth.
