Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has responded to allegations made by Joyce Bawah Mogtari concerning the CEO of Keta Port.
Mogtari, a former Deputy Transport Minister, claimed that the Keta Port CEO had been receiving a salary for nearly eight years without fulfilling any responsibilities. In a Facebook post on Friday, September 27, she stated that the CEO was being paid for no work done, a situation she claimed would never have been tolerated under the administration of former President John Mahama. Mogtari further linked this to mismanagement of public resources, referencing the cost of the National Cathedral project as well.
Her comments ignited widespread debate on social media, with many questioning the management of state resources. In response, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah labeled the accusations as misinformation, urging the public to disregard them.
In his own Facebook post, Nkansah explained that while the individual in question holds the title of Keta Port CEO, he also serves as the CEO of Tema Shipyard. Since his appointment, the CEO has been actively fulfilling his responsibilities at the Tema Shipyard, Nkansah emphasized, making the claim of “no work done” entirely false.
Nkansah argued that Mogtari’s comments were politically motivated and designed to mislead the public. He further clarified that the CEO’s work at Tema Shipyard requires full-time involvement, and the Keta Port project is progressing under his leadership.
Nkansah noted that significant progress has been made on the Keta Port project since the CEO’s appointment in April 2019. Feasibility studies have been completed, as well as an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in May 2024. Additionally, 30 companies have responded to market sounding, with ongoing engagements with eight of them.
He concluded by urging Ghanaians to focus on facts rather than political misinformation, reiterating that the CEO has been effectively handling his responsibilities at both Tema Shipyard and Keta Port.
“Please ignore the misinformation that the Keta Port CEO was appointed and is receiving a salary for no work. He has been actively managing the project, alongside his role at Tema Shipyard,” Nkansah stated.
