The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is set to end its statewide walkout, according to its leadership. This decision was made today during a meeting facilitated by the Fair Wages Commission and the Ministry of Labour and Employment Relations (MLER). A memorandum of understanding between the Colleges of Education Teachers Association (CETAG) and the government has been signed.
The purpose of the conference was to address the urgent issues of CETAG members, who have been on strike for the last two months, causing all 46 colleges of education in the nation to completely suspend their academic operations. Following a council meeting that has not yet taken place, the Association is anticipated to declare the start of academic activity later this week.
Furthermore, pay for the months of July and August in 2024 must be paid before this end of the month. Teachers from the several education colleges went on strike on June 14 in protest of their pay and working conditions. Nationwide, 46 public colleges were impacted by this strike.
