Chelsea and Forest charged for failing to control players

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players following a heated confrontation during their Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The altercation erupted late in the game when Forest’s Neco Williams appeared to shove Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella off the pitch, sparking a clash between players from both teams. Despite Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson seemingly slapping Forest’s Morato during the scuffle, no individual action will be taken against him. The incident between Jackson and Morato was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the match.

In a statement, the FA explained, “It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.”

Both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been given until Thursday to respond to the charges.

As a result of the fracas, three players were shown yellow cards: Neco Williams for Forest, and Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill for Chelsea. Additionally, Chelsea received a total of six bookings during the match, which triggered an automatic £50,000 fine—their second of the season for accumulating six or more bookings in a game.
