A joint task force, including the Police, Ghana Health Service (GHS), and Ada District Assemblies, is set to launch a special operation on Saturday, October 26, to enforce new health measures in Ada following a cholera outbreak. These directives include a ban on food and drink distribution at funerals and the mandatory provision of hand-washing facilities at public events to curb further spread.
The outbreak has led to 43 reported cholera cases, with two fatalities recorded in the Ada East and West districts of the Greater Accra Region. Dr. Dennis Laryea, Deputy Director of Surveillance at GHS, stated that public health education is being intensified to control the situation. He also called for international support to address the sanitation challenges fueling the outbreak.
